A small invitation
The opening of Genesis presents creation as a gift from God. Wonder can lead to responsibility: noticing what is around us, using things carefully and caring for a shared home. This activity works at a window, with a houseplant or outdoors. You do not need to buy supplies or travel somewhere special.

- What detail in the natural world did you notice today?
- What do we use that someone worked hard to make?
- What is one thing we could care for instead of replacing?
A noticing notebook
You will need: Folded paper and a pencil; an indoor or outdoor view.
- Choose a plant, a patch of sky or another safe place to observe. Spend a quiet minute looking closely.
- Draw three details: a shape, a color and something that changes. Children can describe instead of drawing.
- Choose one act of care: water a plant appropriately, reuse a container or help an adult repair something.
Ages 4–7
Name colors and shapes together. Let curiosity guide the conversation.
Ages 8–12 and older
Find out where an everyday material comes from and how to use it with less waste.
Put love into practice
Care for a shared space with permission. Adults handle hazardous litter; leave wildlife and unfamiliar plants undisturbed.
Pray together
Creator God, thank you for the world you entrust to us. Teach us wonder, gratitude and care for our neighbors and our shared home. Amen.
